More on John Mark - Spanish and English


It is hard to believe it has been almost 2 months since we found out about John Mark’s condition. I can’t imagine going through this with out the Lord. The One who has supplied our STRENGTH and HOPE through this time.

John Mark is not even born yet but we are amazed at the insane amount of people who are praying and interceding for our son. Thank you dear family and friends! Your encouragement and prayers have literally sustained us. Because believe me there are times we just feel idle.

We rejoice because we are experiencing God’s intervention in our sons health and we are witnessing prayers being answered!
  1. We have received the full amniocentesis report and John Mark DOES NOT have a chromosomal trisomy of any sort and no other syndromes or abnormalities were detected. 
  2. The hydrocephalus has leveled off and there HAS NOT been any further swelling in his brain. The doctor expressed that if this continues we may be able to avoid placing a shunt at birth.
  3. Other than what is going on in John Mark’s brain the sonograms reveal he is developing quite well. He is very active and his constant movement gives me so much joy! 
There is still uncertainty about the holoprosencephaly (HPE) because this becomes more visible as John Mark grows and the images become more clear. It can very well be that the hydrocephalus is causing there to be an appearance of HPE. On November 5th I will go in for a fetal MRI which may provide us with more details on John Marks condition. Please continue to pray for a miracle!

We continue to pray and believe for complete healing. If it is HPE it does not have a cure so we solely rely on God’s hand to carry our son through this. In both of these cases there is no telling what damage will be done...so we lean on prayer and hope for the best! 

Our hearts continue to be grateful for the doctors, medical care and the people in Chile who have been so good to us during this process. But over all our hearts are grateful to have a God who loves his people and intervenes for their best. As a matter of fact I find hope in this...
Isaiah 53:4-5
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

God more than anyone knows our pain...Jesus has borne our griefs and carried our pain. No matter what happens it was done and the battle has been won. No matter what happens we are in the hands of the one who is victorious, the one who conquered death and pain!



Es difícil pensar que ya han pasado casi 2 meses desde cuando nos dieron la noticia de John Mark. No puedo imaginar pasar por estos momentos sin el Señor. El que nos ha sustentado la FUERZA y la ESPERANZA para lo que estamos enfrentando. 

John Mark aun no nace pero estamos asombrados con la cantidad de personas que están orando y intercediendo por nuestro hijo. Gracias querida familia y amigos! Su animo y su apoyo nos han sostenido. Por que creanme que aveces uno no encuentra las fuerzas que necesita para seguir.

Regocijamos por que estamos experimentando la mano del Señor en la salud nuestro hijo y las oraciones están siendo contestadas!

1. Hemos recibido los resultados del amniocentesis y no se detecto ninguna trisomia ni otros síndromes o anormalidades.

2. La inflamación por causa de la hidrocefalia se ha establecido y no a aumentado en su cerebro. El doctor nos comento que si sigue así no habrá necesidad de colocarle una sonda. 

 3. Fuera de las condiciones en el cerebro de nuestro hijo, las echografias nos dicen que John Mark se esta desarrollando muy bien. De hecho se mueve tanto y me causa mucho gozo sentirlo!

Aun existen muchas dudas con la otra condición con la cual lo diagnosticaron, holoprosencefalia. Esta condición es mas visible con el tiempo que el bebe crece. Puede ser que la hidrocefalia este dando apariencia a la holoprosencefalia. El 5 de noviembre me harán una resonancia magnética para observar mas detalles de su condición. Por favor oremos por un milagro!

Seguimos orando y creyendo por sanidad completa! Si es que tiene holoprosencefalia, esta condición no tiene solución. Solo confiamos en las manos del Señor en la vida de John Mark. An ambas condiciones no se sabrá que daños habrán...así que confiamos en la oración y esperamos en lo mejor! 

Estamos tan agradecidos por los doctores, la atención que hemos recibido y a nuestra familia Chilena que nos han estado apoyando durante estos momentos. Sobre todo estamos tan agradecidos al Señor. Por que el ama su gente y interviene para el bien de ellas, Yo encuentro esperanza en esto...

Isaías 53:4-5
4 Sin embargo, fueron nuestras debilidades las que él cargó;
    fueron nuestros dolores[a] los que lo agobiaron.
Y pensamos que sus dificultades eran un castigo de Dios;
    ¡un castigo por sus propios pecados!
5 Pero él fue traspasado por nuestras rebeliones
    y aplastado por nuestros pecados.
Fue golpeado para que nosotros estuvieramos en paz,
    fue azotado para que pudiéramos ser sanados.

Nadie mas conoce el dolor mas que nuestro Dios...Jesus cargo nuestras debilidades y nuestro dolor. Pase lo que pase ya esta hecho y la batalla fue ganada. Pase lo que pase estamos en las manos del que fue victorioso, en el que conquisto la muerte y el dolor!

The New Renfro Family Monday night we went to bed around 1:00 am. Veronica and Melody ha d been over that day. We had lunch at a Peruvian restaurant, came home, had coke floats, watched the movie Up and ate popcorn. BUSES AND COFFEE

We've been in Costa Rica for almost 3 months. We finally feel pretty adapted and pretty blessed with the opportunity to be here. It's amazing how living in a different country makes you think a lot about your identity and values. God is teaching us so much about people and culture! We wanted to take the time and share a little about our lives here. Costa Rica is a country of 4 million people, which is equivalent to the city of Houston! And 1 million of them live in the the province of San Jose, where the capital is and where we live. It is a pretty advanced country and we have almost everything we need. In some cases not what we are use too, but hey it works. Something that we've had to adapt to is not having a car. So buses have become our common mean of transportation. I've really grown to enjoy it because we are exposed to people daily and through it I have learned a lot about patience. Ministry Update

It will be almost a year since we arrived in Chile and the Lord has exceded far more than what we asked and prayed for. Our heart and prayer was to help the students have a vision for discipleship along with getting small groups established and funcioning. We are gateful for the students the Lord has enabled us to work with and there is testimony after testimony of how the Lord is using each one of them on their campuses and in their small groups. The second semester just began and we currently have 4 solid small groups meeting every week. This September we are also starting our second leadersip course for the students that will lead small groups next school year in March. Another prayer we had, was the ability to share the vision with the National Church in Chile. We have had several opportunities to present the vision of CONEXION at several pastors meetings and conventions. This work cannot happen without the support of the National Church!
