About the Renfros

We are Josh, Mayra, Naomi, John Mark and Caleb Renfro:

Before life in Chile we lived in the great Republic of Texas...yes, we are "those" kind of Texans. Josh grew up near Fort Worth and Mayra in Del Rio, but we wound up studying at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Before meeting each other and falling in love, we met Jesus through Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship and our lives were changed forever. It was during this time we felt the Lord asking us to lay down our dreams and ambitions and commit our lives to Him and the cause of His Kingdom. And that is where Chile and consequently this blog comes into play. Missions is not just about "outreach", it is about making the Gospel available where it is not readily so. Before 2008 there was no Chi Alpha present in Chile. We felt compelled to give students the same chance we had to hear and see the Gospel lived out through christian fellowships on campus, and that is why we are here.

Naomi Faith was born in the city of La Serena, Chile in March of 2010. Mayra liked the name Naomi because it was from the Bible and meant "pleasant, agreeable", and Josh liked it because Nimi sounded like a cool nickname, so it stuck.  She is indeed pleasant, everyday she makes us laugh and brings joy to our hearts.  Her fun personality opens up doors for us to meet and minister to people all the time and we are so grateful for her life.

John Mark was born in January of 2013. John means "God is gracious" and Mark means "warlike". Before he was born they didn't give him much hope, but by God's grace he was a fighter (you can follow the his story on our blog during 2012-2013).  His life is a testimony to a God who is merciful. John Mark is full of life and energy. He loves people and never meets a stranger.

Caleb Hudson is our little one and was born in Santiago, Chile this year. Caleb is our peaceful baby, born during our transition back home for support raising after completing a 5 year term. Caleb means faithful, reminding us that God is faithful through this journey.
